Debra Sparrow has combined her experience as a designer of jewelry with her passion for the ancient art of weaving in this spindle whorl design, which is representative of artwork carved on Spindle Whorls (a tool used for spinning wool and other materials into thread) by the Salish people.

About The Artist:

The Sparrow Sisters have been continually inspired by their ancestors’ strength, creativity and intelligence, and Debra and Robyn Sparrow have been creating Salish weavings for over 20 years. Debra is a self-taught Musqueam designer who was born and raised on the Musqueam Reserve. She integrates her people’s history into her art and design work. It is Debra’s hope to educate others about the beauty and integrity of her people’s history through her art.
